Warwickshire BASE

What is Warwickshire BASE?

We support children and young people aged 11-17 years who are vulnerable to abuse through exploitation. We can also work with a young person until they are 25 if there is an assessed need for continuing support.

Child Exploitation can happen in lots of different ways, online and in real life. As a young person you can be tricked or groomed into doing something sexual or carrying out a criminal act by someone who has power over you. They might be older, stronger, popular or have something that you want, like alcohol, drugs, or a party lifestyle.

We work with parents, carers and families of young people affected by child exploitation. As well as provide training and awareness raising to all professionals that work with children and young people.

Warwickshire BASE is a confidential, voluntary sector service that adheres to local Safeguarding procedures and protocols and is part of the multi-agency contextual safeguarding and child exploitation team in Warwickshire.

We also offer training to all professionals and parents/carers.

What do we offer?

We deliver 1-2-1 or group work tailored sessions with young people, providing emotional and practical support, creating a safe space for them to share their experiences.

We aim to reduce risk to the individual through work around consent, healthy relationships, safety strategies, risk management, emotional resilience, and online safety, as well as specialist work around exploitation in all forms.

Our work with young people is carried out using a range of methods and approaches and is always child centred and trauma informed.

We offer a bespoke parenting support package, both 1-2-1 and group work for parents and carers with children at risk of or experiencing exploitation.

Our offer to parents/carers

Our core offer of one-to-one work with parents/carers will support you to develop your knowledge and understanding of exploitation as well as identify strategies to cope, and repair what is often a fractured relationship with the child at risk.
